All about me

Hi! I'm originally from Oak Park, IL and graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from Illinois Wesleyan University. Since graduating in 2014, I have taught English in Madrid, Spain for 1 year, taught as a 2nd grade, Dual Language (Spanish and English) teacher for 2 years and now I'm teaching 1st grade, Dual Language (Spanish and English). Below is a picture of me in my classroom this year. While it has been a crazy start to the year, I am so happy to be back in person with my kiddos!

Currently, I am living in Urbana, IL, teaching and trying to finish my Master's Degree in Education from Dominican University. I am very excited but also nervous to be finishing up my course work this semester!

  1. Hi Emma, I graduated from Illinois Wesleyan too! It's always fun to bump into a fellow Titan. When you were in Madrid, did you teach elementary students as well? Is there one or two significant differences you've noticed in teaching Spanish in the States versus Madrid? Love your pics as well!

    1. Awww hi fellow Titan! Yes, when I was in Spain I also taught elementary students. As far as differences between Spain and the states, they did have a different schooling system after elementary school and taught their students British English instead of American English, which I thought was interesting! However, overall, all the teachers and families just wanted the best for their students! Thank you for your post and questions! :)

  2. Hi Emma!
I think that is so interesting that you taught in Madrid! That is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I went to school at Eastern Illinois University and my sister just started at U of I, so I know exactly where Urbana is! I also love the picture of your dog :)
